Syd is my guilty pleasure, the washing can wait so can the household chores as I sit down and start reading the latest book. Such a great bunch of characters and the storylines explore the abilities and fragilities of the characters who are strong at times yet still vulnerable to those they love most of all. Never a dull moment in these books which are full of action and adventure, romantic interludes and laugh out loud moments where Syd's "Foot in Mouth" takes hold although she is learning to think before she opens her mouth these days.I've read all the Hayle Coven Series and now I've read all the available Coven Destinies Series bar one so I am officially hooked. You would think that after so many books the story would get old and boring but that never happens. I literally cannot put the book down and have to read it straight away. I am so grateful that Patti is such a prolific writer as I don't have to wait too long for the next book in the series.

Just wow. Read the book today. Could not put it down and dying for #3. Love reading about Syd kicking ass. I don't want to spoil it for anyone else but I wished everyday there was a new book about Syd. I stumbled upon the 1st book by accident. I bought the rest and have read them twice already. Patti does a great job of keeping you interested and it feels like you are right there with Syd, her friends and family. Amazing writing and if you have not read the Hayle Coven series, I beg you to try to 1st book and if you don't get hooked right away I would be shocked.
I seriously need Patti Larsen to just come on over, and whisper in my ear all day long, because even though she's a very prolific writer...I can't wait! I love everything Hayle! There's *high* drama, there's *low* drama, there's humor, there's realistic "I love you but I want to smack that snarkiness right out of you" and oh myyyyy, there's always Sassafrass...what I wouldn't give for a Sassafrass (although my Cooper and Carls do just fine).
But seriously, the stakes are higher than ever. And that is saying a lot. I don't want to spoil anything so I'll stop here, but for anyone sitting on the fence, or for anyone who's stumbled across this series, start from the beginning - it's a hell of a ride. You'll really enjoy it!
I've read so many books in my life (age 60), it must number in the tens of thousands that when I read a book series like this, I must leave a comment for the author. Patti has the ability to draw you into the lives of her characters, so much so, that you feel as if you are a part of the story. I've read all the Hayle Coven Series and now I've read all the available Coven Destinies Series. As soon as the vegetable garden is in I'll be reading the rest of the co-series. Thank you Patti, for giving me the oasis of your novels. Marie
Steam Union has so many plot twists it would leave you dizzy if it had been written by anyone else but the incredible Patti Larsen. Instead it keeps you on the edge of your seat and turning pages as fast as you can! Not only does this book delve into family dynamics, friendships, unexpected alliances and paranormal politics, it delivers on the whole fate of the Universe theme as well. Can Syd and her allies save not just the world but her Universe and others? We don't learn all the answers in this book but it poses questions I can't wait to read the answers to.
Holy. So much to say but will NOT spoil this for anyone! Ohhh that Eva Southway...she really pisses me off. And Quaid Quaid Quaid...how about a little bit of common courtesy huh? My mind is going in a million different "what if -blank- happens, then what?" scenarios. Next please!

If you have never read any of Patti Larsen's Hayle Coven Novels, you are missing out! These books take you on such an adventure & you find yourself having trouble putting the book down! Coven leader Sydlyn Hayle's life seems to be falling apart, her husband is coming home less & less, her second in the coven Shenka has just released the family magic back to Syd & has left. Piers is now head of the Steam Union & finds himself cleaning up after his mother's betrayal with the Brotherhood. Not to mention the Drach's & the Werenation.....so much going on! Amazing books, highly recommended!
As always, there's no clear sailing for Syd, but this book leaves Syd more alone than ever before as growing pains strike the budding paranormal alliance and her friends. As always, I'm still hooked on this world and on Syd who is more like me than not, struggling with a temper and the inability to keep her mouth shut. What worries me now is how I will cope when there are no more Syd books to read. Yep, that hooked. I only wish I inspired as much loyalty and love as Syd does....
