Why,oh WHY? In the world would anyone think $3.99 for a 23 page download is a reasonable deal? I'm speechless. I know Disney is behind this travesty. Ever since they swallowed up Marvel, anything connected with their material is way overpriced! Just look at the instant video or ITunes video downloads-anything connected with Disney or Marvel is now the highest price of digital downloads.
Marvel had been getting stagnant lately, and was in need of a shaking up of the status quo. So the big 4 all got facelifts. During Original Sin, Hulk became “Doc Green”, and Thor became “unworthy.” As many of you know, this second one has led to a woman picking up the Hammer and becoming Thor. Tony Stark has been inverted in AXIS into Superior Iron Man, and finally we have Captain America, who was turned into “geriatric” Steve Rogers by a villain you probably have never heard of, called the Iron Nail. And so, Steve has passed the torch to his long-time friend and partner, Sam Wilson, The Flacon. If you’re not sure, that means Captain America is black now. I am going to avoid commenting on the real-world politics of this situation because this is a comic book, and I don’t feel we need to go there with this. That is something that can be left for discussion on the forums.
Alright, now that I got that out there, let’s look at the issue. As was mentioned in the weekly review, this book has jumped ahead of the current event, AXIS, which is going on, and I would say that is actually a saving grace for this particular title, as we can see a completely different Sam then we are getting in all the other titles he is appearing in this week, where he is an inverted, one dimensional raving tyrant. In fact, for those Captain America fans out there that are not that into Events, I would highly recommend completely skipping AXIS after Captain America #25 and jumping right past it to this issue. You won’t miss a thing and will probably really enjoy this new direction Remender is going with the series.
As to the artwork, Stuart Immonen is one of my current favorite artists at Marvel. And there are so many #1s out this week and everybody brought their “A” game. All-New Cap does not disappoint in this department. The action is detailed and stylized, and it works really well for the story they are presenting.
I really like the direction they are going with this series and these characters. If they can continue this pace, and this level of artwork, it would seem that the changing of the guards might be a very good thing after all.

This is a great addition to my comic book collection! It's good for any collector of comics who wants to have an interesting cover variant to add to their collection.
