The book has a unique blend of the Old, modern, and other world. The story is engaging and enjoyable. Who doesn't love a strikingly handsome man who loves animals?
Fabulous tale. I am not normally a paranormal romance fan but this well told tale is an exception. The heroine is smart the hero is dreamy the dog is charming and I recall the seals from my own long ago trip to Scotland
This first time I read the first version I loved it, but this second version, I loved even more. I love the characters, ie handsome brave Highlander, and strong competent woman who have their ups & downs, but always return to each other. Oh, be still my heart!!
Anyone that has read these books can't put them down once you start, so be sure to have the time to be "taken away" to the Highlands.

This is such a fun read. Kendra and Graeme, both with their own special magic, weave a wonderful tale. Graeme is a guardian of an ancient relic, a position passed down through his Clan. Now he's ready to return it to the old ones. Kendra who can talk to spirits comes to town to smooth over some unsettled ghost so a a preservation group can come in and make a theme park.
A light read with some interesting characters. I enjoy the writing of this author so much. I always feel happy at the end of one of her stories.

Outsiders want to buy up and change the village. She works for them. He is against the changes. How can she help the villagers who don't want to sell out and don't want the change but still stay loyal to her employer? How can she help the man she has come to admire who will not be happy when he finds out who she works for? She is between the proverbial rock and hard place.
She has her secrets but so does he.
Then there is the evil lurking within the village. The man who hates Graeme and wants him out of the way so that he can obtain the power of "The Old Ones."
Allie has brought together the nostalgia of Scotlands past, the magic of Scotland and of course there is the romance.
I received this book free for an honest review. I have to say I do own the original. Both are excellent, and oh my, I loved Jock the best. I'm not usually so taken by a dog, but I loved that he had so much character. I don't have too many books that have ghosts, but I own all of Sue-Ellen Welfonder books and then when I found out she was Allie Mackay I bought all of those too. I liked that Graeme and Kendra both feel something strange about the other but only can guess what they are about. He thinks she is just a tourist and she thinks he's just trying to keep his town from being invaded. Allie's stories always make you feel happy for the couple.
I recently read this book after having just reread the original version. I agree with the author that the original version was quite dark and did seem a bit out of place with the earlier books in the series. This newer version, which I wasn't aware of until just recently, is much lighter. I did enjoy it, especially the happier feeling throughout. However, I feel like the original version had more depth and the whole mystery behind the wand was more worthy of the extreme secrecy of keeping it hidden. Yes, it was darker, but I feel like that actually added more dimension to the characters and the whole reason for why the wand was so coveted was stronger in the first version. I hope Sue-Ellen will continue to write more books as Allie Mackay. I really enjoy the time-travel Scotland books.
